Particle Size Distribution (PSD) is arguably the most critical physical parameter in material science. From the compressive strength of concrete to the dissolution rate of pharmaceutical tablets, proper sieving methodology dictates final product quality and regulatory compliance.
Not all meshes are created equal. Professional test sieves are optically verified to meet exact tolerances defined by ASTM E11 or ISO 3310-1. Even microscopic deviations in wire thickness can skew a gradation curve, causing thousands of dollars in rejected material.
Heavy aggregates require the violent tapping of mechanical shakers to force particles through the mesh. Conversely, fine powders (like flour or pharmaceuticals) require the high-frequency, 3D throwing motion of electromagnetic vibro-shakers to prevent mesh blinding.
